Case Study
Christchurch International Airport
CHALLENGE:
International travel, especially long distance can wear travelers out. The arrival experience into a new country, especially one where travelers may never have stepped foot before, is paramount to setting a first, best, and lasting impression.
SOLUTION
Christchurch Airport, New Zealand’s Tourism Gateway, launched a series of interactive themed airbridges, allowing visitors to step off international flights directly into a floor-to-ceiling wonderland experience of amazing scenery like the lush West Coast bush or the golden-sand beaches of Abel Tasman National Park. The sensory experience has been amplified by sounds such as bird calls from the area, and smells of the environment, such as fresh bush air, hay, lanolin and wine farm.
“We want to make Christchurch an unforgettable airport, right from the moment people step off the plane. We want to inspire people to visit our countryside, and they can immediately book travel and tours in these depicted areas.” – Andy Lester, Chief Operating Officer, Christchurch International Airport
